I was born and raised in Nashville and as a young kid, I was always interested in watching the spring flowers fade into fall splendor. My father taught me to garden young, and I always had a love of plants and nature. Being the creative type, I took years of art classes that provided me the escape without boundaries to let my horizon expand and my creativity blossom.
As a teenager I got a job at a Kroger grocery store just when they started the floral departments and it was my father who suggested that if I tried my hand at it, I might be good at it. Little did he know how right he was.
That was almost 30 years ago and led to a series of floral and advanced design courses at a local college. With that I moved on from designer to managing the floral Shoppes, as they were called.
One thing always leads to another and this led to event design. I began working with several local caterers designing their tablescapes and event spaces. What finally brought me to weddings was my childhood memories of all the beautiful flowers I would see at church weddings.
So it was a natural progression to start my own “Event Floral Design” business 10 years ago.
I have never stopped learning.
Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to train with the Tennessee State Florists’ Association and became one of the few board certified Florists in the State of TN. I then went on to receive the designation of Master Gardener through the Extension program of the University of Tennessee.
I was naturally gifted and classically trained to take things ordinary…… and turn them into something Beautiful and Grand.
